About Us

Aoraki Stockfoods is a family business my wife Shona and I started on our farm in 1998. Our success took us by surprise and it was a steep learning curve, especially with the liquid molasses causing motors to burn out or jamming machinery up. Since 1998 we have continually expanded and improved our feed mill, giving us a very efficient and low cost feed mill. We still own 100% of the business and are fully involved in the day to day running of Aoraki Stockfoods.

We supply farmers in Central Otago, South Canterbury, Marlborough, Clutha, West Coast, Mid Canterbury, North Otago and North Canterbury. We are also the preferred supplier for Landcorp South Island Dairy Farms. We rear calves on our farm each year giving us real experience in calf rearing. Your calves will benefit from our experience. As far as pricing goes you may think, how we can make a high quality product at such a low price, we achieve this because:

1. The farming side of our business pays for the rates, insurance etc
2. We do not employ any administration staff.
3. We do not employ travelling sales reps.
4. We have a very efficient, low cost but productive feed mill

Our low overheads and extra efficiencies result in savings for you.

You will find that when rearing your calves the faster you get them eating Aoraki Calf Meal the faster their health risks reduce.  The palatability and digestibility of any calf feed has to be of a high quality for this to happen. This is how we make sure your calves get the best start:

1. No grass seed offal (high in protein but not in digestible protein for calves, can be used as cheap way to lift protein levels).
2. No other industry by products are used in our calf meal.
3. No palm kernel meal, copra meal or tapioca, in our calf meal.
4. Soya bean meal and peas are our main sources of protein, both highly digestible.

There is a big advantage in keeping the meal fresh, especially for your very young calves. You will agree that bread tastes best when it is fresh out of the oven. We only keep enough calf meal in stock to last a short time, ensuring it stays fresh. And we encourage you to buy small amounts at the start of the season while you continue to get new calves.
